The National Hospital Insurance Fund has introduced biometric registration which upon completion, will only require ones finger to access the services. This effort will ensure that the NHIF insurance is simpler and more accessible to all Kenyans. NHIF intends to minimize the struggles of a person accessing the service once the card is lost.
In Laikipia County, the activity kicked off on November 1, 2021 in Nanyuki in three places- Likii Dispensary, Central park and Old Market.
The county is leading in the number of enrollments to NHIF, now standing at 64 per cent.
NHIF CEO Dr. Peter Kamunyo Gathenge reiterated the national governments plan to support the most vulnerable members in the society in paying their insurance cover. Seventeen thousand (17,000) Laikipians stand to benefit from the subsidy which aims at hitting one million nationally.
