Beadworks SMEs Trained On Enterprise Development
Directorate of Tourism together with World Vision trained seven community groups under their umbrella Beadwork Self Help groups comprising of 127 women on how to improve their beadwork activities.
The goal is to improve their skills in the digital space and offer the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders in the industry to market their products. It also sought to assist the groups in formulating their businesses to make them more attractive and increase their sales.
They were advised on the process of registering and getting licenses from the national and county governments, access to social security for the business owner and their employees and how to comply with the legal framework, including tax, social security and Labour laws.
The groups were trained on issues of digital marketing, financial literacy and business financing, customer service, formalization of business and bookkeeping.
The beadwork self-help groups included Kimanjo leather workgroup, Twala cultural centre, Doldol Naserian CBO, Namaiyana cultural centre, Osuguroi cultural centre, Nalepo Ositat women group and Namunyak beaders.
The Directorate of Tourism will assist the groups to promote and market their products through social media platforms. Tourism officers will assist the groups in managing the pages for a period of three months.
