Governor Joshua Irungu Leads Efforts To Revive And Promote The Coffee Sector In Laikipia

Laikipia Governor H.E Joshua Irungu led the County Department of Agriculture in hosting a team from the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union(KPCU) in Tandare, Laikipia West with an aim of reviving and promoting Coffee production in Laikipia West.
Farmers in this region will be trained on a 10-acre demo farm established in Gatirima.
A Coffee tree seedlings nursery has also been set up at Lariak Forest. The Department was led by the Ag. Chief Officer Ms Elizabeth Wangari Ag. Director Agriculture Mr Peter Gachugia, ASDSP County Coordinator Mr. Nyapola, Laikipia West Agricultural Officers and other department officers.
Ng'arua coffee cooperative society members were so grateful to the Governor for his efforts in Reviving the coffee sector. This will also create employment for the young people in the County.
The Governor reiterated that his Government is committed to ensuring that farmers receive subsidized coffee seedlings and intensive training on planting, milling, warehousing and coffee marketing.
