Day 15 Of Orthopedic Camp So Much To Celebrate

Two weeks down the line and the Orthopedic Camp now enters the final lap; pictured here are Consultant Surgeons Dr. Samwel Ndanya and Dr. Guy Wansbrough leading a theatre team on the 61st of 65 major surgeries done so far.
It is interesting to note that some of these long standing cases, some stretching for up to 14 years, would take over one year of planning for a single surgeon, the cost notwithstanding. One of the most unique surgery is estimated to cost over 700 thousand shillings, the high level consultancy cost excluded- a figure that is out of reach for most Kenyans.
In total, the camp has been able to offer over 20 million shillings worth of restorative interventions to Kenyans from far and wide, with surgeons reporting about the very challenging but satisfying cases they handled.
Post operative patient care continues on the patients currently recuperating in in the wards. Scores of the stable cases have already been discharged for home care.
We look forward to a more eventful one in the near future.
