Bursary Worth Ksh. 50 Million Disbursed. Laikipia County

        The County Government of Laikipia today disbursed bursary worth Ksh. 50 Million in an effort to ensure that children from vulnerable, poor and needy backgrounds are retained in school.
This saw the realization of Governor Joshua Irungus promise to parents, guardians and caregivers that he would lighten the burden of school fees in the midst of the tough economic times.
The Ag CEC Education, Sports and Culture, Mr. Stephen Kisorio accompanied by the Chief Officer Education Mr. John Mwangi Gichuki and Members of the County Assembly of Laikipia led by the chair of the Education committee, Hon Daniel Mugweru handed over cheques to the ward ECDE coordinators.
The ECDE coordinators will deliver the cheques to parents and guardians with the assistance of ward administrators and the representatives of the MCAs from various wards and other stakeholders.
The bursary will benefit students from day and boarding secondary schools, special schools and tertiary institutions. The CEC revealed that special attention was given to learners with disability, orphans and vulnerable children. All the learners in special schools who applied for the fund were supported.
