County Government Delivers Subsidized Fertilizer Closer Home

Delivery of National Goverment's subsidized fertilizer closer to farmers has began in Laikipia county as promised by H.E. Governor Joshua Irungu EGH.
Today, the Governor oversaw the arrival of the fertilizer at the identified secure stations in the county, awaiting to picking from the registered farmers.
He joined people of Ol Moran ward at Ol Moran Catholic Church for the exercise where 560 bags of fertilizer was delivered . Farmers in the area have equally started collecting their products.
At the Kinamba cereal stores, 1680 bags have been delivered and farmers have started collecting the commodity.
A total of 560 bags have been delivered at Rumuruti County Headquarters while 560 additional bags are expected soon.
In Laikipia West a total of 3,920 more bags are awaiting delivery soon for the farmers to pick and enhance their farming practices
In Laikipia East, the Nanyuki National Cereal Board stores have received 2,240 bags. The government is looking for nearer-to-farmer point in Umande ward and Lamuria, Tigithi ward. Upon approval, the County Government will facilitate the transportation to those distribution points.
All these efforts are meant to ensure that farmers get the much needed farming input closer to leverage on these short rains.
The County Government through the Department of Agriculture will ensure that farmers are equipped with necessary knowledge and skills through extension services for the county to become food secure and resilient against future droughts.
