The County Government of Laikipia led by the Chief Officer Education, Mr. John Gichuki, conducted a monitoring visit to ECDE centers in Mukogodo East Ward,Laikipia North.
The aim of this visit was to assess the state of ECDE centers and make recommendations for improvement in a bid to make them child friendly.
The chief officer noted with concern that due to insecurity, residents had moved to safer areas thus affecting learning especially for the ECDE children who cannot walk for long distances. Some of the worst hit ECDE centres include Lokusero A, Lokusero B, Sanga, Sieku, NaiMaralal, Nadungoro, Ol Tepes among others. The Chief officer encouraged the teachers to continue reaching out to the children wherever they are as he expressed optimism that calmness will return soon and all the learners return to school.
Mr. Gichuki underlined the commitment of the County Government of Laikipia to advance the learning conditions of ECDE centres by improving infrastructure, maintaining high level of motivation for staff and providing adequate teaching and learning materials for all EDCEs.
Led by our Governor, HE. Joshua Irungu, EGH, we have an urgent commitment to turn every ECDE center into a place where every child desire to be. said Mr. Gichuki.
The chief officer also assured residents that HE Governor Irungu EGH is committed to working collaboratively with the national government in ensuring that all Laikipians live in peace and stability.
