13th Mashujaa Day Celebrations In Laikipia County

        October 20, 2023: HE Governor Joshua Irungu, EGH together with Laikipia County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri led Laikipia County in marking this years Mashujaa Day Celebrations.
The celebrations, in the spirit of bringing the national holidays closer to the people, kule Mashinani, 13th Mashujaa Day, formerly Kenyatta Day, were held at Mwihoko Primary School, Ngobit Ward.
The theme of this years celebrations is UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE, in honour of heroes and heroines who are the nations health soldiers.
The theme also was styled to mark the journey the Kenya's health system has taken, its progress and imagination of a future holistic and people-centred healthcare system, for ALL.
In his speech, Governor Joshua Irungu EGH, implored Laikipians to live to the spirit of the founding fathers, the heroes and heroines who contributed heavivly to today's independent Kenya.
"Therefore, lest we forget, a Shujaa is not defined by the largeness of their wealth or size of their muscles but rather, by their genuine efforts, pureness of their intentions and standing up to be counted when others are unavailable," Governor Irungu challenged his fellow compatriots.
During the celebrations, Governor also honoured few people in Laikipia who have uniquely went out of their way to improve the lives of their fellow humans, from health officials, to security officials, community leaders and religious leaders alike.
He ended his speech in a strong note appreciating the community's unsung men and women of valour:
"To our modern-day heroes and heroines, we might not know them by names, their graves might not be well marked or not marked at all, but their sacrifices within the community should forever inspires us. May their acts of selflessness be honoured through generations."
