DECEMBER 13, 2023: County Government of Laikipia has officially dedicated its Headquarters in Rumuruti for official operation.
The headquarter offices has been operational but Countys top leadership had not officially relocated their offices in Rumuruti municipality.
Governor Joshua Irungu EGH led the county government officials in the dedication prayer ceremony while the clergy community was led by Bishop Paul Mwaniki of Glory Christian International GCCI, Nanyuki.
Reading from 2nd Samuel Chapter 6, Bishop taught on meaning of DEDICATION and its implication.
Dedicating a building, this head quarter structure, means handing it over to the deity we all pray to. It also means handing over functions to be carried out in that building to the guidance of God while also acknowledging place of God in the operations of the officers operating in the building, the Bishop taught.
Speaking during the launch, the Governor clarified that the official opening of the County Headquarter does not mean transfer of government functions from Nanyuki town where the Governors office previously was.
Early next year, my office shall give a schedule of how my operations in the three sub-counties shall run. I will be having a week in Nanyuki offices, in Nyahururu offices, and in Rumuruti offices. But all cabinet meetings will be held at the county headquarter from now henceforth, Governor explained.
The transfer of County operations to Rumuruti symbolises of Laikipias history unfolding to immediate and further prosperity. It was exactly 60 years since Rumuruti was declared as Laikipia central offices, then, Laikipia was a district among the 1963 forty districts that formed Kenya and among the 13 districts in the defunct Rift Valley province.
Rumuruti municipality residents expressed their joy of finally having Governors office in the municipality, hoping that it will bring with it economic and social fortunes that comes with a full functional county headquarters, and it sure will.
