Laikipia KCB Partnership For Bright, Needy Students Full Scholarships

The County Government of Laikipia has partnered with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) to provide full scholarships to bright and needy students in Laikipia County for their high school education.
A total of 15 students today recieved their cheques which will allow them to report to school with their school fees fully paid.
Today we are issuing these beneficiaries with cheques worth Ksh 35,000 shillings each for their school fees. On top of that, we are providing every student Ksh 30,000 in cash for their shopping and other basic commodities, Ms.Olipha Ongeri Branch Manager KCB Nanyuki said.
Presiding over the event held at the Governor's compound along 10 Mt Kenya Road, Deputy Governor, H.E Reuben Kamuri, expressed appreciation of parents and families of the beneficiary students for raising,guiding and supporting the student with diligence that had enabled them to achieve excellent results in their studies and exams now being celebrated and rewarded by well-wishers.
He encouraged parents and families to continue in their noble duties of closely supporting the youth navigate their journeys to adulthood.
The DG commended the KCB group for their noble generosity in promoting education in Laikipia County which opened pathways for the youth to pursue their dreams besides impacting development of human capital in our country.
He encouraged the students to continue with hard work in the next phase of their high school academic journey.
Because I know you are hardworking students and you will continue with the same spirit, let your good results be accompanied by good characters. To my fellow parents, we encourage ourselves to continue with our God -given calling of providing mentorship, to the learners, encouraging them at every turn, the DG said.
The County Government of Laikipia has committed to fully sponsor a total of 60 bright students hailing from underprivileged families in the County four from each ward.
Ag. Education CEC Stephen Kisorio encouraged the learners to keep their focus on education and always respect teachers and school authorities.
Choose your friends wisely. In high school you will meet many people coming from diverse backgrounds. It is your duty to choose your friends wisely and keep the ones who will impact you positively, Mr. Kisorio said.
Ms. Purity Gitonga (CECM County Administration) encouraged the students to be alert against distractions that may hinder their efforts to maintain their to trajectory as academic performers.
The County Government of Laikipia continues to welcome well-wishers and other partners to complement government efforts in supporting families give their children a fair shot in life through education.
Also present were Chief Officer Education John Gichuki and officials from various KCB branches in Laikipia.
