Nanyuki ASK SHOW Stuns Agricultural Tech Enthusiasts.

The 2024 Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK), Mt. Kenya branch Show in Nanyuki ends todays May 25, 2024, having started on Wednesday May 22.HE. Governor Joshua Irungu graced the knowledge-enriching Show on Friday May 24th, visiting stalls and witnessing the mindboggling smart-agricultural exhibitions displayed by over 70 exhibitors.True to this years ASK theme; Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth, products ranged across different sectors including Agriculture, Manufacturing, Housing, Small and Medium Enterprises, Banking, Public and Private Sector Institutions, Hospitality, Education, among others.Speaking during his visit, Governor Irungu congratulated exhibitors from different sectors for their bold reap of faith to their agricultural related investments, saying that the have greatly improved agri-business, food security, creating employment opportunities, and building the nation."We must unite our efforts to balance nature and human endeavours as climate change is no longer a distant threat. We have experienced erratic weather patterns, prolonged droughts, and extreme weather events that are becoming more frequent, posing formidable challenges to agricultural productivity and food security," the Governor implored exhibitors and innovators present.Governor Irungu observed that Laikipia and the rest of the counties must embrace technology while dropping long-held farming techniques by communities saying that the advent of climate change and the ever-increasing human population calls adoption of innovations that can sustain human and animal existence - while preserving our environment ecosystem.The four-day agricultural show lived up to its promise as Laikipia residents, especially from Nanyuki and its environs flocked into the vast open compound opposite Nanyuki Police station and adjacent to Nanyuki Sport Club famed as ASK show ground. Schools from primary schools to colleges, families to agricultural enthusiast, honoured their date with the exhibitors as disc jockeys (DJ) left everyone yearning for more music. For those who missed, they sure missed, but next years 2025 Show is not as far, or is it?
