Governor Meets Kirimon Game Reserve Taskforce

July 4, 2024: HE. Governor Joshua Irungu EGH met with Kirimon Taskforce to review the progress of community resettlement plans.
The taskforce comprises of County Government officials, Kenya Wildlife Service, the Community elders, ranchers and other development entities.
Governor Irungu reiterated his commitment to the success of accelerated process of establishment of Kirimon Game Reserve, first of its kind in Laikipia, by affording funds for resettlement of communities within the game reserve.
Upon completion of resettlement process, the County Government together with National Government shall commence rehabilitation and restoration of the game reserve, fencing, tree planting and growing while considering camping sites and hotel constructions to ensure the reserve grows to be among top tourists destination and an economic pillar in Laikipia County.
This initiative is guided by a presidential directive, aimed at enhancing livelihoods, promoting tourism, and expanding the wildlife habitat in Laikipia County.
