Mithuri Primary school had a generator-powered borehole that was nearly dysfunctional, beating its purpose, up until County Government of Laikipia rehabilitated the borehole and installed solar panels to revitalise the once crucial water source for the institution.
On July 15, 2024, HE. Governor Joshua Irungu EGH, commissioned the now solar-powered borehole for use, again, with addition of other capacities.
The school that neighbours Mithuri Centre in Sosian ward will share the resource with the centre this is the first time the centre is getting piped water.
"We will equip this borehole with two tanks, each 10, 000 litres, and then lay pipes to take water to our shopping centre, Mithuri," the Governor revealed.
The neighbour communities to the school will also benefit from the water project, demonstrating the County's commitment to its CIDP that:
"No one treks for more than one kilometre in such of water by 2027."
The Governor was in company of CECM trade and industry Stephen Kisorio, Ol-Moran MCA Hon. Goerge Karuiru, Nominated MCA Benson Kamara, Chief officers in charge of water Abraham Lemanishoe, CO John Gichuki of Education, CO Jecinta Koree in charge of Youth and Sports, among other county officials.
