Five Women Groups From Sossian Ward Benefit With 25 Water Tanks

HE. Governor Joshua Irungu's administration is making strides towards its goal of distributing 50,000 water tanks by 2027.
Today, five women groups from Kandutura, Sossian ward, were the beneficiaries of 25 water tanks, a collaboration between the County Government of Laikipia through the Department of Water Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, and Habitat for Humanity KE.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Laikipia County Secretary, Mr. Koinange Wahome.
The women groups expressed their joy upon receiving the 3,000-litre tanks. Ms. Zipporah Lang'at, one of the beneficiaries, shared her gratitude, saying:
"This tank will significantly enhance my water storage capacity, ensuring sufficient water for domestic use. It will save time and effort previously spent fetching water, enabling me to concentrate on more productive activities."
Mr. Koinange Wahome emphasized the county's commitment to the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and highlighted that access to clean water is a fundamental right for all Laikipia residents and a top priority in Governor Irungus agenda.
Mr. Nixon Otieno, Programs Director of Habitat for Humanity Kenya, praised the partnership, revealing that his organization has also donated 25 water tanks to five women groups in Naibor, Segera Ward, bringing the total number of tanks distributed under the partnership to 50.
In the meeting was: CO Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change Mr. Samuel Lemanyishoe, CO Administration Mr. Mike Kemboi, CEO LCDA Mr. James Mugambi, officers from Habitat for Humanity Kenya, and community members.
