County Government of Laikipia has embraced public participation as key in upholding inclusive governance and development in all facets of service delivery.
The county government recognizes civil society organizations (CSOs) play a crucial role in advancing climate action and amplifying community voices, making them integral actors in implementing the Financing Locally Led Climate Change Action (FLLoCA) program.
The Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change today convened a meeting that brought together diverse CSO representatives from across Laikipia County.
The meeting, held at the county hall in Nanyuki, was chaired by CECM, Ms. Leah Njeri, and focused on identifying a CSO that will represent Laikipia at the National and Regional CSO caucus for the FLLoCA program.
Following intense evaluation process based on a proven track record, Mount Kenya- Ewaso Water Partnership (MKEWP) was identified as the most suitable CSO to represent Laikipia.
As the representative CSO, MKEWP will spearhead community engagements, advocacy efforts, resource mobilization, and support the implementation of climate resilience action under the FLLoCA program at the local level.
