On July 23, 2024, H.E. Governor Joshua Irungu EGH presided over the ground-breaking ceremony for new infrastructure at Ol Moran Primary School. This auspicious moment was witnessed by residents, teachers, and pupils, marking a significant milestone for the community.
The project is a unique joint partnership between the County Government of Laikipia, The Human Practice, and the Safaricom Mpesa Foundations. It is the first of its kind in Laikipia County and promises to be life-transforming for Sossian Ward.
The new infrastructure will include two fully furnished modern Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, six fully furnished modern upper primary classrooms with a water supply system, an ICT hub with computers, an equipped library, laboratory blocks with furniture, and three sanitation blocks for boys and girls.
In addition to these facilities, the Laikipia County Government will drill a new borehole to enhance the school's amenities. Once completed, this borehole will provide clean, safe, and reliable water to Ol Moran Primary School, Ol Moran Secondary School, the nearby Vocational Training Centre (VTC), the local special school, and the surrounding community.
Governor Joshua Irungu commended the development partners, stating, "Investing in children is the only sure way we can guarantee ourselves a better future." This partnership represents a forward-thinking approach to education and community development, setting a precedent for future projects in the region.
