On August 2, 2024, the Laikipia County Cooperation for Peace and Development (CoPAD), formerly known as the Amaya Triangle Initiative, handed over several key infrastructure improvements to the community members of Musul Group Ranch in the Naibunga Central Community Conservancy.
These improvements included a renovated hay barn, two 10,000-liter water tanks, metallic gutters for rainwater harvesting, and a newly installed 2.5km electric fence.
Situated on a 50-acre site, this project is part of the CoPAD five-year strategic plan aimed at promoting feedlot and fodder production in conflict-prone areas.
The project seeks to modernize the agro-pastoral economy in the region, enhancing fodder production and storage to help the community's livestock better withstand drought conditions.
The project was made possible through the financial support of the European Union-funded Kenya RangER Programme.
Representatives from the Northern Rangelands Trust's (NRT) infrastructure department, along with community leaders from various conservancies, were also in attendance during the handover event.
