Governor Irungu Leads Public Participaton For Plot Allocation Process In Rumuruti Municipality

County Government of Laikipia through Department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning, and Urban Development, in conjunction with National Land Commission (NL), held a public participation forum with residents of Rumuruti Municipality.
The purpose of the meeting was to bring Rumuruti residents up to speed with plot allocation process. There are 800 divided plots in the municipality that are posed to be allocated to their legitimate owners through NLC.
H.E Governor Joshua Irungu EGH guaranteed the residents that county land officials will be vigilant during the process to avoid infiltration of corruption, double allocation and guarantee overall integrity of the allocation process.
"Once the lists are finalized, they will be digitized by the Department of Lands in collaboration with NLC for secure record keeping. This initiative marks a significant step in ending the historical land injustices that have plagued our people for years, as we continue improving land security," the Governor assured the residents.
To link County Government and NLC to residents, during the meeting, leaders were selected by the residents forming Mashinani Development Committee to ensure the process is representatively managed and communication flow between all parties is smooth.
Mr. Ekwam Nabos, CECM Roads, Public Works, Land and Urban Planning revealed County Governments intentions of expediting municipality's physical planning to enable plot owners, once they are given legal ownership documents, they will be able to develop them into permanent enterprises.
In attendance were CS Koinange Wahome, CO Lands, John Gichuki, NLC Laikipia County Coordinator, Grace Wairagu and other esteemed county leadership.
