Laikipia County Emergency Fund Committee was in Maina village, Igwamiti Ward, in Laikipia West testing 'Zero Contact Food Distribution System.'
As you can remember, the first program was done at Kanyoni in Nanyuki Wadd. This second one at Maina village saw 450 vulnerable households benefiting from the Lisha Jamii Initiative.
From our elderly in the community, our otherwise abled , those who were laid off by companies after Covid-19 hit the economy, among other range of people benefited.
Encouraging was that well wishers went to extent of even providing vegetables on that day to our people. Another well wisher donated hand sanitizers.
Youth showed up too, volunteered in offloading the food packages and even assisted in distribution. The County appreciated and still encourages suchacts of kindness. It is what will make us win this war against Covid-19. Thank you team.
The Zero Contact Food Distribution System proved worthy the exercise. It is efficient, faster and safest relief food distribution method ever crafted in Kenya. The team has since retreated to collate lessons and learn.
The Lisha Jamii Initiative is ripe now to be rolled out across the County. The actual dates will be announced and schedule distributed to all.
That said, let's not forget that we are not yet out of the woods, we must stay woke and observe set preventive guidelines.
