Residents of Kibiro, Ngenia have a reason to smile as struggles for water is coming to an end as the County Government of Laikipia partners to finish a community water project that has been dormant since the 1980s. The Department of Water, Environment, and Natural Resources distributed 200 water pipes to help in the reticulation of water to over 100 households.

The county government has been on the front line of ensuring that Laikipians have access to water for both consumption and irrigation. With the project complete, residents of Ngenia will be able to access reliable water supply. The community has a water committee that will work closely with the department to ensure they expedite the project.

After partnering with the county government, the community formed a committee to oversight the project completion. Within three months, there was significant progress with the digging trenches and laying water pipes.

We will stand with community members to ensure that there is running water in their households within the shortest time possible.CECM Peter Matunge said.
