LAUNCH OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A REHABILITATION AND WELLNESS CENTER AT RUMURUTI

October 11, 2023: H.E Pastor Dorcas Gachagua presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre at Kandutura, in Sosian ward hosted by H.E Governor Joshua Irungu.
Speaking to the Rumuruti residents, leaders and visitors, the chief guest said explained that the Rehabilitation and Wellness Centre will be uniquely set and named as Health Village.
"A health village is where the rehabilitation set within the community. This means victims of alcoholism and drug abuse are enrolled for medication but also, trained in TVET that has among others, sporting activities and religious institution for their spiritual wellness. The Second lady expounded.
In this rehabilitation model, the addicted youth are treated while also engaged productively in an environment that doesn't give them stigma. They are socialized to keep their brain sharp and active and work is alternative disruption to holeness that comes with desperation and addiction to alcohol and substance abuse.
This facility will contribute greatly to my vision of a Dignified Future for vulnerable populations grounded on chaplaincy and family values, with the main focus groups being the boy child, orphans, widows, and persons with disabilities, Second lady explained.
HE. Governor Joshua Irungu thanked HE. Pastor Dorcas for favourably choosing Laikipia County as the host of such an important project. Governor Irungu observed that Laikipia will benefit immensely from the initiative being in line with his manifesto on Youth Empowerment and general wellness of Laikipians.
I want to envisage a community that affords everyone dignity, a community that does not condemn our youth when they fall victim to social vices, rather we correct them with love and dignity, Governor Irungu encouraged.
The Governor was accompanied by the County First Lady, HE Grace Wakahora, the deputy Governor HE Reuben Kamuri, the County Secretary Mr. Koinange Wahome, CECs, Chief Officers and a host of other top government officials.
The dedication service was led by dozens of fathers and mothers of faith led by Bishop Pius Muiru who gave an inspiring and challenging sermon.
