THINGITHU WARD: 752 STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM COUNTY BURSARY
The CECM of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Ms. Leah Njeri, spearheaded the distribution of bursary cheques for Thingithu Ward today at an event that took place at Nanyuki Social Hall.
This significant countywide initiative saw a total of 752 students benefit in the following categories:
Students in colleges and universities were 133 - each received a check worth Ksh. 8,000
Students in boarding schools were 321 - each receiving Ksh. 5000,
Students in day schools were 274 - each receiving Ksh. 3000,
Students in special schools were 13 in - each receiving Ksh. 5000,
Students in Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVETs) were eight - each receiving Ksh. 10, 000 and,
Students under-county scholarship were three each worth Ksh. 100,000
Speaking during the event, the CECM, Ms. Leah Njeri, noted that this program strives to empower students by alleviating financial burdens and fostering equal access to educational opportunities within the community.
"Investing in education is not just about empowering minds; it is a strategic tool to alleviate the chains of poverty. By providing bursaries, we invest in the potential of our youth, creating a ripple effect that uplifts families, transforms communities, and builds a foundation for a prosperous future," said Ms. Leah Njeri.
The distribution of these bursary checks underscores the commitment of the County Government of Laikipia, under the stewardship of H.E. Governor Joshua Irungu, to nurturing academic excellence and ensuring that every student, regardless of economic circumstances, can pursue their educational goals with confidence.
In attendance were CO Agriculture Ms. Elizabeth Mwangi, CO Economic Planning and County Development Mr. Burje Mohamed, and Secretary to the Thingithu Ward Bursary Committee.
