LIVING WATER INTERNATIONAL SEEKS PARTNERSHIP TO INITIATE WASH PROGRAM IN GITHIGA, MARMANET WARDS

A team from Living Water International, led by country director Mr. Daniel Githanji, paid a courtesy visit to Laikipia County on February 23, 2024, on a mission to seek partnership in initiating a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program.
Living Water International is a Christian-based organization renowned for its holistic programs focused on increasing physical, spiritual, and social wellbeing by increasing access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), addressing critical needs among communities.
The meeting, held at the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change CECM's office, focused on the establishment and implementation of a comprehensive Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in Laikipia County, with a specific focus on Githiga and Marmanet wards.
The first phase of this program, set to commence in the month of April 2024, will encompass activities such as a baseline survey to inform the percentage of water infrastructure and sanitation services, followed by community mobilization and engagement. Additionally, the program will actively involve churches and other partners in the WASH sector.
In his remarks, The Living Water International country director emphasized that the program is aimed at partnering with the work of the county government in enhancing access to water , sanitation services, and hygiene standards for residents.
"Our mission is to collaborate closely with the county government to elevate access to water, sanitation services, and hygiene standards for the residents of Laikipia county in building healthier and more vibrant communities," said Mr. Githanji.
With this, the CECM, Ms. Leah Njeri, expressed the department's and the county's unwavering commitment to support the program, recognizing its significant impact on the communities.
"The successful implementation of this transformative program holds the promise of enhancing healthier WASH practices within Githiga and Marmanet wards, and fostering the development of resilient communities," said Ms. Leah Njeri.
Accompanying the country director were program managers, Mr. Stephen Lenai and Ms. Mary Onyango. Also present was the acting director of water and sanitation services, Mr. Robert Mworia.
