In reference to Governor’s manifesto the department of Water Environment and Natural Resources has undertaken the following in ensuring Access to Clean and Reliable water is achieved as envisaged in the manifesto

Create a Laikipia Water Management Master Plan
Advertisement on EOI has been done in local daily newspaper
Procurement process at evaluation stage by the technical committee
Award of tender on the same to be finalized during the course of month of April 2018.

Protect all wetlands and forests and promote agroforestry
Fencing of Marment and Rumuruti forests on going. All fencing materials delivered.
Mutara fence to address human wildlife conflict ongoing.
12,000 tree seedlings planted in oct- November 2017.
120,000 tree seedlings have been planted during the period January- April 2018 in all 15 wards in the county to increase forest cover. The seedlings were seedlings were distributed equally to all wards. For this third quarter each ward received a total of 3340 seedlings.
Planting of trees is still ongoing.

Build 4 large Dams in each constituency holding at least 1,000,000 ltrs, develop water pans and rehabilitate existing dams and water pans.
