Major Score For Laikipia As KIHBT Opens Training Centre In Umande

Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) has today 12th November 2020 inaugurated a regional training centre at Gachuiro, Umande Ward of Laikipia.
The new institution will offer training on better and modern roads design, use of technology and capacity build the locals for competencies in road construction.
The training institute advocates for labor intensive quality construction works and thus will create more jobs to the local community. The Centre will also increase the economic levels of people in the region by providing accommodation for students learning at the centre.
During todays inauguration, both KIHBT and the County Government of Laikipia signed a partnership agreement.
It will train road contractors from all the ten counties of the Central Kenya Economic Bloc and seven more from northern Kenya region.
Local contractors will greatly benefit through the training which will see roads in the county improve on quality, longevity, and better design.
Laikipia is the first county where KIHBT is establishing a training centre as it embarks on devolving its trainings. It becomes the first devolved unit to partner with KIHBT.
As always, Laikipia has set the pace for other counties to adopt the noble course of allowing construction based on modern designs and using long-lasting materials.
As a demonstration of willingness to help contractors do quality work across the county, Laikipia has allowed KIHBT to partner with the ten VTCs to train trainers.
